public space greening initiative to make beautiful, functional and meaningful urban space inspired by love, us, here and Mother Earth

MAKE BEAUTIFUL!

Si BLOMile Nje

We AMbush

AMbush is a collective of eco-artist-activists, sustainable designers, social change makers, performers, recyclers, evolutionaries...

AMbush started when with a realisation of the lack of functional public space within cities, and especially within  South African Cities. We began to search for ways to make the urban landscape more productive and multifunctional, seeking for ways to produce resources within the city (and therefore making use of the resources present within the built environment), to create more sustainable cities, rather than linear, wasteful use of resources brought into the city, used, and wasted, having negative effects on all areas that participate within this process.

The inequality of South African societies is present in all elements of how we live... this needs to change. this is why we focus on finding ways to make either public space, schools or community centres to be involved in creating more social space, cleaner space, liveable space. Everybody deserves to live in a healthy, beautiful space. The psychological and societal effects of having a healthy living environment is essential to creating a healthy society.

We are inspired by the movement and energy within the city. Johannesburg, a large African Cosmopolitan, with an energy expressing the diverse and wonderful energy of this continent. We are inspired by this diversity found in this country, both the biological and cultural diversity. We want to acknowledge and recognise the knowledge and beauty we already have, and therefore try to uncover the local knowledge when making any intervention to make the greened space meaningful to the local space users.

We are all creatives, and are inspired by the way various art forms: public, visual, performance, etc can facilitate a conversation with radical outcomes.  In this way, we need to find creative communicative methods to facilitate intercultural and intergenerational dialogue so that we can create collaborative and relevant outcomes.

We are inspired the blessings we have on this planet, and the power of Mother Earth.
We owe her respect.
we owe each other respect
reclaim the knowledge that exists, the holders of our history and evolution of our Mother.
In the Trees. In the Soil. In You.
